John Baldessari (b. 1931) is an American conceptual artist known for his work featuring found and appropriated photography and images. Regarded as a pioneer of Conceptual Art, Baldessari also demonstrates how humor can be combined with more serious investigations into photography and language. John Baldessari has exhibited in the Whitney Biennial (1983), the 47th Venice Biennial (1997), curated an exhibition at the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (2006) and much of his work is part of public and private collections at the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum and the Broad Collection.
